DESCRIPTION: APW - Ball Hamilton, Official B of RT Standard (Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen) with rare brake-wheel damascene, Grade 999C, 17J, 18S, gold-filled OF Ball Model swingout case, white enamel SS dial with BRT logo, SW-LS, brake-wheel pattern nickel damascene, s#28435. The damascene pattern of this watch depicts a 5-spoke locomotive brake-wheel, this very distinctive damascene is found only among the early portion of Ball Hamilton B of RT Standard 17 jewel production. These watches were identified in Hamilton factory records as Grade 999C, and a review of the Hamilton factory ledgers shows a total production of only 285 made.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, oxide to regulator assembly, scattered micro-fine scratches to plates; dial has light hl between 11 and 2, two short faint hls at 6, few fine scratches within seconds-register; excellent hands, hour and minute are blue, seconds-hand is plum colored; case shows ample wear, a small shallow ding, three short scratches, and a spot of scuffing on rear near center, engine turning detail is fully lost with only a light outline remaining of engraved circle at center, sizable areas of wear to brass; tight bow, crown shows little wear; plastic crystal with few fine scratches.
